One fan ofThe Sims 4has undertaken an ambitious, if ethically dubious, project: capturing and storing men in an underground bunker. The site itself is quite impressive, the player clearly possessing some solid design sense and a mastery ofThe Sims 4mechanics. And it must be said, apart from the capturing and implied imprisonment, it looks like a cozy place to spend some time.
Since the heyday of the originalThe Simsgame, players have been finding ways to trap, annoy, or otherwise torture their poor Sim characters. From boxing them into a tiny room until they pee their pants to letting them go for a dip in the pool only to pause the game, remove the ladder, and watch them perish in a watery grave. Not much can top the classic100 baby challenge inThe Sims 4though. That particular accomplishment has given birth - no pun intended - to a host of internet content and strategies, all aimed at helping fellow players spawn that coveted hundredth child.

But now, one player and content creator has discovered a new way to bend their Sim characters to their will. TikTok user kewlcy has dreamed up an inspired and terrifying scenario in which they capture and store men in their underground bunker. In a posted video, the creator gives a brief tour of the premises. Referring to the above ground portion as their “witch cottage,” the narrator quickly moves down two levels into the bunker, where theirexcellent design skills inThe Simsare on full display.
The design artist has taken great pains to make their Sim captors feel at home, providing both interior and exterior lounging areas. Faux yard spaces are decked out with trees, flowers and other garden ornaments. An unsettling reminder to the captors also adorns the lawn: a tombstone, implied to belong to an attempted escapee. The interior of the “home” contains a reading nook, living room, and dining room, all decorated in a chique, 50s or 60s aesthetic. In fact in a previous video discussing the same project, the user specifically called out the movieBlast From the Past,the 1999 film starring Brendan Fraser and Christoper Walken where a boy in the 60s lives for 35 years in an underground bomb shelter.
Apparently, kewlcy’s absolute horror show of a creation has inspired many of their followers, at least in terms of their decorative sense. Many viewers have asked for the sets to be put up on the game’s user gallery. And though their assets likely won’t bethe creepiest things onThe Sims 4gallery, kewlcy has proven that, in the right context, even a seemingly normal household scene can be unsettling.
If Kewly’s project has proven anything, it’s thatThe Simsplayers can still find novel and horrifying ways to entertain each other. And, with the variety ofweird mods thatThe Sims 4supports, the possibilities are endless.
