Crossplay Changes
A year into the release ofFortnite, players weren’t able to access their accounts on multiple platforms at once. WhenFortnitecame out on Switch, right before the start of Chapter 1 Season 5, several gamers were disappointed to learn that they couldn’t use their account if they had played on Playstation before.
Thankfully, this has changed quite a bit since then. After a few months, Sony caved and allowed crossplay across all platforms. To help players who had to create a second account to use on another platform,Epic Games even created aFortniteaccount merging program.
Nowadays, fans can use theirFortniteaccount on every platform, and this includes having access to everything in their locker and most of their V-Bucks. Gamers might notice their account doesn’t display the same number of V-Bucks on every platform, and that’s because if they purchase V-Bucks on the Playstation store, they won’t be available on Xbox. However, V-Bucks bought through the Epic Games Store or unlocked through the Battle Pass will be accessible everywhere.
Battle Pass System
The Battle Pass system has been revamped, and returning players might have a difficult time navigating through it and unlocking everything the OG Pass has to offer. Back in Chapter 1, gamers could earn Season Levels and Battle Pass Tiers. They would earn tiers by increasing their level and completing Weekly and Daily Quests. However, tiers no longer exist. Now,players earn Battle Stars by increasing their Season Level, and these Battle Stars are used to unlock Battle Pass rewards.

While the building mechanic was the gimmick that madeFortnitestand out in the early days, many gamers believe that there was a huge skill gap and that they would rather play without it. This led to the creation of a Zero Build game mode, and it was such a success that it became permanent.
Returning players that don’t enjoy the building mechanic can selectZero Build - Battle Royalein the Play tab before entering aFortnitematch. It has all the same options as the standard Battle Royale game mode, incluidng Solos, Duos, Trios, Squads, and Ranked.
Reboot Vans
Back in the day, there was only a chance to bring back a teammate if they were knocked down but not fully eliminated. If their health went down to zero after they were knocked, they would not be able to return to the game and could only spectate.
In April, 2019, Epic Games added the Reboot Van toFortnite, giving players the opportunity to bring back teammates that had been eliminated. Now, when a player is eliminated, they will drop a Reboot Card, which lasts 260 seconds. To revive them, gamers must bring the card back to a charged Reboot Van and get them to return to the game.
Rebooting won’t work if the teammate has already disconnected from the match, if the Reboot Van has no battery, or if the Reboot Card has already disappeared.
