After a recent ban,Twitchstreamer Amouranth has returned to the platform. At first, fans wereunaware of the cause of the ban, and many were uncertain about how long it would last, but Amouranth has now revealed these details to fans in her stream.
It is a well known fact by now thatTwitchhas an extremely harsh and sometimes unpredictable banning system, especially when it comes to sexually explicit content. Amouranth revealed that a user appealing their ban sent this sort of content in the form of an image in their appeal, and showing the image for a brief second on stream was enough to constitute her 24 hour ban.

This is Amouranth’s third ban from the site, so many assumed the punishment would be harsher. Instead, Twitch simply suspended her for one day. Though she clearlybroke the rule regarding sexual content, many have come to her defense, claiming Twitch is too erratic with bans.

Upon her return, Amouranth revealed that a user replaced their profile picture with an explicit image and then reported her while she was viewing the appeal. She is understandably peeved about this, saying “I get in trouble for it, because someone else was a moron.” Her frustration is echoed by the rest of the Twitch community, however, as many feel that bans are random in terms of what prompts them and how long they last.Alinity was recently banned for having a wardrobe malfunction on stream, but that ban only lasted one day initially.
To make matters worse, Amouranth feels that Twitch is giving “power to the trolls.” Typically, the only power trolls have is the power that content creators give them when they allow themselves to be bothered by their behavior. In this case, however, it is Twitch which is giving the power to the trolls, as they now know that their actions can directly affect thelivelihood of streamerslike Amouranth if they are clever enough.
Fortunately, Amouranth has returned to the platform and is streaming again. She will likely be more careful about viewing these appeals in the future, as withthree bans on her accountshe is in a tough place if she gets another one for some reason.
