Summary

Ubisoft has officially canceledThe Division Heartland, a free-to-play spin-off of itsDivisionfranchise that was originally announced in 2021.The Divisionand its sequel have been successful for Ubisoft, so it makes sense that the company is looking to expand the franchise with spin-off games. Unfortunately forDivisionfans, though, they won’t get a chance to play a finished version ofThe Division Heartland.

The Division Heartland, first revealed in 2021, was being developed by Red Storm Entertainment. WhereasThe DivisionandThe Division 2were set in large cities,The Division Heartlandtook place in a rural area. The Division Heartland Has Been Canceled, But There’s Something Else To Look Forward To In 2024

The Division Resurgencemobile game is still in development, with Ubisoft hoping to launch the title at some point later in 2024. Based on what’s been shown of the game so far,The Division Resurgencewill provide an experience very similar to the main seriesDivisiongames, but scaled down for a mobile audience. The game promises to deliver a “vast open-world with high-quality graphics,” a PvE campaign, co-op support, customization, and a loot system that should be familiar to fans of the otherDivisiongames. The Division Resurgencesounds like a particularly ambitious mobile game, but it being mobile-only may alienate hardcore fans of the franchise.

Even so, fans of the franchise may be happy that somethingDivision-related is still on track for release in 2024, even if they may be disappointed thatThe Division Heartlandis getting the axe. There are some other huge Ubisoft games to look forward to in 2024 as well, including theopen-world samurai/ninja gameAssassin’s Creed ShadowsandDivisiondeveloper Massive Entertainment’sStar Wars Outlaws, so maybe those titles can help fill the void that will be left byThe Division Heartland’s absence.
