Eidos Montreal took to Twitter to show they’re supporting Playground Games in the ongoing development of the newFable, slated for release in 2025. Fans celebrated Eidos Montreal’s announcement and believetheDeus Exdevelopercan add much to Xbox’s classic RPG franchise. So far, it’s unclear what part of development Eidos Montreal is assisting with specifically. Third Kind Games assisted Playground Games in the past with the development ofForza Horizon 4, responsible for optimization and performance. If Third Kind Games is handling the same thing this time around, Eidos Montreal may be assisting with something entirely different.

Eidos Montreal is Co-Developing the New Fable Game

Another heavyweight developer assisting in the production ofFableis Ryan Clark, formerBaldur’s Gate 3producer. Clark announced on LinkedIn that he had become a senior producer on the Playground Games team responsible forFable. Having theproducer ofBaldur’s Gate 3, one of the most-awarded games in the industry, on the team is good news for theFablefranchise and its fans.

TheFablereboot was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 with a gorgeous cinematic, revealing the return of the franchise that saw its last release withFable 3in 2010. The trailer also showed that afemale protagonist will lead the newFable, and even though there was some controversy about that fact on social media, many fans also expressed their excitement to control a heroine in this classic fantasy world.

Fablewas among many games displayed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024.Fablewill be released in 2025 for PC and Xbox consoles and will be available on Game Pass from Day One. Compared to other games in the Latitude project, which aims to bring Xbox games to other platforms,Fableis reportedlynot being considered for this strategy, which indicates that, at least on its launch date,Fablewill be exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles.
