Uniqlo has announced a new line ofPokemonshirts to be released later this summer. The Japanese fashion brand is well known for its history of collaborating with various video game franchises, and it’s not the first time that it’s had apartnership with Pokemon.
Pokemon, established back in 1996 with the release ofPokemon Red and Green, is such a worldwide phenomenon and cultural force that well-known brands regularly partner with the franchise to release their own merch targeted toward its millions of fans. The Pokemon merch that’s been created over the decades include apparel, accessories, shoes, and so much more.
Uniqlo recently revealed the Summer 2024 Pokemon line of shirts for both kids and adults on its official Japanese website, with an arrival date of July later this year. Dubbed the “UT” collaboration, the shirts feature a number of popular Pokemon, including perennial favorite Pikachu, as well as fellow Generation 1 representatives Eevee, Snorlax, Gengar, Ditto, and Dragonite. Piplup and Sylveon from Gen 4 and 6, respectively, round out the line, ensuring a rather wide selection for all kinds of fans. It’s yet unknown whether this UT line will reach Uniqlo stores in other countries, but these collabs have often done so in the past.

While Uniqlo is a regular collaborator with the game franchise, it’s not the only brand that’s put out a collection so far this year. Luxury brand Fendi partnered with streetwear company FRGMT back in January torelease a line of clothing and accessories featuring the Dragonite family. However, these particular pieces cost thousands of dollars, as expected from a luxury name — the new Uniqlo shirts are definitely going to be more accessible to the regular Pokemon fan.
Another hyped collaboration was thepartnership betweenPokemonand sportswear brand Pumafrom 2022. The well-received line included athleisure apparel and the brand’s classic sneakers themed after Pokemon like Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. With so muchPokemonmerch out there, superfans will have a lot of pieces to collect and express their fandom with.
Meanwhile, thePokemonfranchise won’t be slowing down and dying out any time soon, which means there will be more merch to make moving forward. The mainline game series is already on pace to release its next entries, with so manyPokemonGen 10 rumors already swirling around online.Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the last new mainline entries, revitalized the series, getting fans excited to see where Game Freak and The Pokemon Company take the games next.
