One of thebest indie games of the year, if not the decade,Untitled Goose Gamehas a simple premise. Players are a goose that has a laundry list of items to complete, including getting townfolk wet, stealing people’s items, and just causing a ruckus all over. The description of the game on House House’s website states: “It’s a lovely morning in the village, and you are a horrible goose.” The graphics and story are simple, stylized, and really beautiful.

On top of being one of themost downloaded games on the Nintendo Switch in 2019,Untitled Goose Gamehas just reached another amazing milestone: over 1 million copies sold. For the small indie company House House (that consists of only four people), this is quite a feat. The original promo video was released in 2017 and was immediately turned into a meme; in 2019, Untitled Goose Game was released to a public that was already ready to be a goose.
House House has only released one other game,Push Me, Pull You, which is available for PS4 and home computers.Untitled Goose Gameis a one-in-a-million indie game. Originally released for PC this September, this goose was set looseon consoles only this month. It’s an incredibly short time to have hit such a milestone for an independent title.
If any indie game this year deserves such an amazing milestone, it’s definitely House House’sUntitled Goose Game. If anyone out therehasn’t played this game yet, they should. It’s one of the most fun and interesting games that is incredibly addicting. There is a lot to love about this game, including its beautiful, if simple, graphics and the hilarious antics of the goose main character. Between terrorizing the beautiful untextured 3D models that look like paper dolls and stunning musical track, gamers have never had so much fun playing as a goosey jerk.
