For the uninitiated,Resident Evil Re:Verseis a six player versus multiplayer mode where players take on the role of various characters from theResident Evilseries. Resident Evil Netflix and Movie Projects
While manyResident Evilfans may be most concerned with theResident Evilvideo games that are in development, others may be looking forward to the TV and movie projects that are in the works as well. As it so happens, video streaming giant Netflix has twoResident Evilprojects in active development, one of which is canon to the video games and the other which is more of departure from what fans may expect.
First off,Resident Evilfans can look forward toResident Evil: Infinite Darknesslaunching on Netflixat some point in July 2021.Resident Evil: Infinite Darknessis the latest CGResident Evilproject, though this time it will be in the form of a series instead of a movie. InInfinite Darkness, viewers will witness a biohazard incident at the White House after the events ofResident Evil 4. Fan favorite characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield will be the starring characters in the series.
AnotherResident EvilNetflix series is in development, though it’s unclear if it will be canon to the games or not. Thislive-actionResident EvilNetflix serieswill reportedly be about Albert Wesker’s kids, showing their lives in the present day as well as what their lives were like growing up. This is quite the departure from what fans would usually expect from aResident Evilseries, so it will be interesting to see how they react to it.
And finally,Resident Evilfans have the live-actionResident Evilmovie reboot to look forward to,Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The film is looking to adapt the storylines of both the originalResident Evilgame as well asResident Evil 2, featuring the infamous mansion along with Raccoon City.Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Cityset photos have been promising, but it’s too early to say at this point if theResident Evilmovie reboot film will be any better than the previous attempts at making live-actionResident Evilmovies. Fans will find out whenResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Cityhits theaters on June 23, 2025.
Resident Evil 4 VR and Remake
One of the most popularResident Evilgames is easilyResident Evil 4, which has stood the test of time as one of the highest-rated video games ever produced. ConsideringResident Evil 4’s popularity, it’s no surprise that Capcom has made it its mission to port the game to as many platforms as possible.Resident Evil 4is readily available on nearly every modern gaming platform, including mobile devices. The game has also had some more creative ports, like theResident Evil 4Wii port that added motion controls, which was very well-received by theResident Evilcommunity.

Now Capcom is takingResident Evil 4in a much different direction. It was recently confirmed that aVR version ofResident Evil 4is in development as an Oculus Quest 2 exclusive. TheResident Evil 4VR game is expected to retain much of the content of the originalResident Evil 4game, but it will run on Unreal Engine 4 and use a first-person perspective instead of the classic third-person, over-the-shoulder view that the 2005 version originated.
While some hardcoreResident Evilfans may not be all that interested in a VR version ofResident Evil 4, they may be interested in theleakedResident Evil 4remakethat’s supposedly in development. The Capcom ransomware attack has seemingly confirmed what reputable leakers have already revealed, and that is a full-fledgedResident Evil 4remake is in development. The belief is that the game will launch at some point in 2022 or maybe 2023, but fans should standby for an official reveal before they get too excited.
Resident Evil: Outrage
Speaking ofResident Evilleaks, it seems as though a Nintendo Switch exclusiveResident Evilgame may be in development as well. Reputable leakers and the Capcom ransomware attack suggest that a project going by the working title ofResident Evil: Outrageis in development for the Nintendo Switchwith a possible release of late 2021. Fans should take this information with a grain of salt until Capcom officially reveals the game, but rumors point toResident Evil: Outragestarring Rebecca Chambers.
Capcom has shown huge support for the Switch so far, releasingMonster Hunter: Riseas a Switch exclusive earlier this year. And considering Capcom’s history of releasing Nintendo exclusiveResident Evilgames means it’s pretty easy to believe that theResident Evil: Outragegame is real. If it is real and it is aiming for release in late 2021, maybeResident Evilfans will get lucky and Nintendo will announce the project at E3 2021 next month.
Resident Evil 9
Capcom has not officially announcedResident Evil 9, but it is an inevitability. TheResident Evilfranchise remains one of Capcom’s top properties, andResident Evil Villageis already a big success. Rumors and leaks point toResident Evil 9finishing the storythat started inResident Evil 7, so those that have already played throughResident Evil Villagemay have a decent idea of where the story could go.
However, with numerous otherResident Evilprojects already confirmed or leaked to be coming first, fans shouldn’t expect any concrete details onResident Evil 9for years.
