Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Potential CoD 4 Multiplayer Content

TheCall of Dutyfranchise’s multiplayer has evolved to become defined by its in-game seasons, as is the case with most AAA online experiences. These seasons offer a huge amount of fresh content for players to unlock and enjoy, having the great bonus of introducing crossovers with other IPs or even celebrities.

Call of Dutyhas been accused of straying too far from its roots with these crossovers in recent years, within-game operators like Nicki Minajbeing greeted with as much confusion as they are excitement. This has supposedly been reeled in to an extent inModern Warfare 3, with rumors suggesting that many of its in-game seasons will be solely themed around pastCoDentries.

These crossovers will branch between differentCoDsub-franchises, with games likeAdvanced WarfareandGhostssupposedly getting their own seasons. With this in mind, it only seems right that 2007’sCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfarebe given its own dedicated season in the upcoming title.Call of Duty 4has indeed received a lot of love in recent years, with a comprehensive remastered version of the title even releasing in 2016. With that being said, the sheer importance of the release in shapingModern WarfareandCoDas a whole makes it more than worthy of even more attention moving forward.

It wasCoD 4that gave fans the first glimpses at nowiconic characters like Soap, Griggs, and Gaz, as well as revolutionizingCoDmultiplayer with things like killstreaks and create-a-class. ACoD 4season inModern Warfare 3could reintroduce characters like Griggs and the original version of Gaz as playable operators, as well as villains like Zakhaev and Al-Asad.

Of course, this themed season could also includeweapon blueprints inspired byCall of Duty 4, even if they simply give pre-existing weapons a new look to match their 2007 counterparts. One cult-classic weapon in particular was the Golden Desert Eagle in the originalModern Warfare, and this could be reintroduced as a fitting nod to the title inModern Warfare 3.

Considering that bothModern Warfare 3andCoD 4belong to theMWfranchise, the potential for shared content between the two is near-endless. While seasonal crossovers with games likeAdvanced Warfaremay feel a bit out of place inMW3, the content that aCoD 4season could harbor would be right at home in the upcoming release.
