Outriderslaunched a little over a month ago, and its release was overall met with enthusiasm, with high peaks of players on Steam and other platforms. The game was not (and still isn’t) in a bad shape by any means, but there were several issues sprawling even during the first week since launch. That includesthe returning inventory wipe bugthat first appeared back during the free demo. There were other issues that made the experience not fully enjoyable for some players, including connectivity issues, server errors, matchmaking problems that were later found out to be the main reason behind the inventory wipe bug.
To complicate this situation, the latest patch was supposed to introduce a few changes that were aimed at improving the quality of life while playingOutriders. However, the issue that is now infuriating for lots of players is the damage mitigation and armor bug.

Outriders' Armor Bug And How Patches Do More Harm Than Good
Patch 1.07 seemingly introduced a brand-new issue toOutriders, where players end up taking much more damage than intended from all sorts of enemy attacks or abilities. This seems to be caused by a calculation error that either makes the players' characters have insane amounts of armor or ridiculously low armor numbers. Still, some players are reporting getting one-shot by enemies, and the result is that they cannot run Expeditions or any harder content in the game because of this.
Other players cannot even go through story missions because of all the damage they take from regular enemies, let alone bosses. The issue seems to be an inconsistent one, though, with somegamers reporting being killed in a single hiton a run, and then being capable of shrugging the same hit off under the same conditions. Fans of the sci-fi shooter genre who playedAnthemmay remember the Health bar issue that took months to fix, and other similar inconsistencies that ruined the experience. In the case ofOutriders, this is something that was somehow introduced in the latest patch, for which a Reddit user seems to have found a workaround that helps from time to time.

A Potential Workaround For Outriders' Armor Bug
With characters reportedly being much more susceptible to damage, and most defensive mods not helping mitigate damage from enemies, the player tried the old-school method. Basically, removing pieces of gear and putting them back on after logging in seems to be reducing the impact of damage and avoid most of the one-hit kills. It seems the pieces of armor have to be unequipped and put back onafter every Expeditionand every time players log into the game, though.
Even if this works, the bug is taking the toll on the community because of the fact that every patch seems to break more than it mends. Players are scared that whenever People Can Fly comes upwith new patch notes forOutridersother issues will be introduced, which will require even more patches to fix, enabling a cycle where gamers don’t feel entirely safe playing. Hopefully, this is just a brief phase inOutriders' history, and things will be looking up soon.
Outridersis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
