Celestial Thread inWild Heartsis probably the most important resource a player has, outside of their actual health, of course. This is what the hunter uses to conjure all the different Karakuri in the game, be it Basic, Fusion, or Dragon Karakuri. And, managing Celestial Thread in the heat of combat only becomes more important as the game goes on.

To start with, players can only carry about 12 Threads, which is still enough to conjure some powerful tools. That said, maintaining this 12 Thread maximum only becomes less and less realistic as players unlock Fusion Karakuri with a higher Thread cost. For example, there are somevery wacky Fusion Karakuriin the late game that need up to 14 Threads to even conjure up. So, let’s go over how exactly players are meant to increase their maximum Thread count inWild Hearts.
Essentially how it works is thatas players upgrade their Tsukumo at a campfire using Old Cogs, they’ll also increase their max Thread count. It won’t happen for every single upgrade, but it happens pretty often. And, players can just keep an eye on the bottom right of their screen while hovering over any of the four Tsukumo Modes, and if a ‘Threads Held’ UI box pops up, then the next upgrade should up their Thread count.
The Tsukumo companioneveryone should be familiar with by nowhas 4 different ‘Modes’ that players upgrade individually. These are itsAttack Mode, Defense Mode, Assist Mode,andThreader Mode. It swaps between these modes automatically in combat, as needed, and each one has a specific purpose.
To actually get theOld Cogsneeded to upgrade the Tsukumo, however, players will need to find all the other Tsukumo hidden across the game’s maps, as they give 1 Old Cog after they’re ‘Befriended’. There are about 200 Tsukumo for players to collect across the game, with 50 of them spread just throughout the first area,Harugasumi Way. Keep in mind, however, that as players upgrade their Tsukumo, the costs for the next upgrade will become heftier, which means finding more Tsukumo hidden around, and this repeats again and again.
How To Easily Hunt Down Tsukumo
While players can absolutely try and find all 200 Tsukumo on their own just running (or Fast Traveling) around, it’s highly recommended to wait for just a bit. There’s a certain upgrade for theHunting Tower Dragon Karakurithat makes this scavenger hunt so much easier, and it’s available pretty early on. The upgrade is found in the Karakuri section of the pause menu, on the far left node just one line above the Stake Basic Karakuri unlocks. To be super specific, following just the middle-most vertical line on this menu, the upgrade is 12 lines down on the far left.
The upgrade is calledHunting Tower: Deep Probe, and it makes it so thatHunting Towers will also place little question mark ‘?’ symbols on the map, to show the exact locations of all Documents and Tsukumo in their range. After this, it’s just a matter of time until players gather them all. And, as someone with the maximum amount of Celestial Thread storage can verify, combat inWild Heartsis almost entirely different when players have double the amount of Threads to use at any time than they did when starting the game.
