Summary

World of Warcraft’s demon hunters were introduced with the Legion expansion as the game’s second hero class. They took Azeroth by storm, and countless players clamored to get a taste of these demonic fighters. Only night elves and blood elves can be demon hunters, but these glaive-wielding gladiators brought with them a personality like no other.

Although demon hunters have the fewest specializations inWorld of Warcraft—a measly two—that doesn’t mean they have any less to offer. Strictly relegated to melee, demon hunters make versatile tanks and formidable damage dealers, but that’s not all they excel at. There are loads of perks to being half-demon despite, or perhaps even because of, the fel magic rushing through their veins.

The Laws of Physics Do Not Apply to Demon Hunters

Demon hunters are by farWorld of Warcraft’s most agile classas they are ridiculously quick and acrobatic. Watching one of these corrupted warriors fight is like trying to keep track of a pinball. They zip around at blinding speeds, leaving nothing but green flames in their wake as they execute Olympic-level gymnastics. It’s a true performance when demon hunters battle, and they know it.

Jump, and Jump Again

Perhaps the best thing about playing a demon hunter, however, is their unique double jump. Like something out of a PlayStation 2 platform game, demon hunters defy gravity by doubling their height as they jump once more in midair. No otherclass inWorld of Warcraftcan do this, and coupled with their instant glide ability, demon hunters can easily reach areas that other players cannot. Developers have to consider the terrain they add to the game carefully, and whether demon hunters can exploit any of its ledges.

WoW’s Lord and Savior, Illidan Stormrage

Few demon hunters can resist the fantasy allure of their class. Death knights left a lot to live up to in terms of a hero class’ lore, abilities, and unique identity. But whenWorld of Warcraft: Legionrolled around, demon hunters did not disappoint. As a hero class, they embody their respective expansion, much like death knights represent Wrath of the Lich King, and evokers epitomize the theme of Dragonflight.

This means that demon hunters had to glorify demonic and fel motifs as they arrived in time to stop the Burning Legion.

Led by their corrupted patriarch,Illidan Stormrage, demon hunterscarved through hordes of demons with ease and paved the way for Azeroth’s final victory over the Burning Legion. Illidan is a famous character in the game, as his suave edginess has appealed to many since his debut inWarcraft 3. Demon hunters tend to wax lyrical about their favorite antihero, idolizing his teleological methods and dark nature. They hold out the hope that Illidan will return one day to take more names, and they’re ready to fight by his side when he does.

Demon Hunters Have Unique Custom Aesthetics

It’s a well-knownfeature of demon huntersthat they aren’t fond of shirts. Like Illidan Stormrage, they know that covering up such a tattooed torso only does the word a disservice. Since Legion, body tattoos have been introduced for many races, but the wicked patterns on a demon hunter’s shoulders are still unique. They are essentially magical outlets for excess fel energy, meaning that, at least lore-wise, a demon hunter’s shirt would constantly catch fire.

Nearly everydemon hunter transmog setmakes a special effort to expose much of their chest and emphasize their demonic mutations like horns, claws, and wings. Coupled with plenty of flashy particle effects and epic glaive weapons, these outfits are some of the best-looking sets in the entire game. Not many others can beat the demon hunter in a contest of sinister style, and having some of the coolest customizations in the game means looking good is sure to be a slam dunk.
