WWE SmackDown debuted on Fox just a few weeks ago, but this week the show is temporarily moving to FS1. Considering this, it’s safe to say that manyWWEfans without cable will be missing out on today’s SmackDown broadcast. Luckily for those individuals, we will be providing WWE SmackDown live results and a full recap of everything that happens on the show, which is the final SmackDown broadcast before the big WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view event that’s taking place in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 31.

WWE SmackDown on 10/25 will feature a confrontation between Team Hogan and Team Flair, a tag team match between The New Day and Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode, and a match between Nikki Cross and Mandy Rose. Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will also feature a confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez, who will be challenging Lesnar for his title come Crown Jewel on the 31st.

Here is a full recap of SmackDown for 27-05-2025.

Team Hogan and Team Flair on Miz TV

This segment was a chore to sit through. Lots of corny jokes. Clearly and obviously heavily scripted. The difference between WWE’s sterile product andAEW Dynamiteis really night and day, but here we are. The whole segment was just an excuse to set up the main event, though it was a nice surprise when it was revealed the Cesaro would be competing in the match. Cesaro is one of the most criminally underused talents in WWE, and he definitely deserves more opportunities than he gets. The highlight of this whole segment was Cole on commentary talking about how later on Brock Lesnar would be confronting the “Demon…Cain!”

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode vs. The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston)

Winners:Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode defeated The New Day. Yikes. Kofi Kingston’s standing in the WWE has plummeted since he dropped the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar. Not only has he been relegated back to random tag team matches, but he has been relegated to tag team matches that he loses almost as quick as his match with Brock Lesnar.

Cameron Conners vs. Lacey Evans

Winner:Lacey Evans. The entire match can be seen in the Twitter clip. This consisted of nothing but Lacey hitting Conners with the Woman’s Right. Just a standard squash match, nothing else to report here.

Firefly Funhouse Returns

In WWE’s crusade to destroy the popularity of"The Fiend" Bray Wyattas much as possible, it decided to bring back the Firefly Funhouse segment. Now, Firefly Funhouse in and of itself is usually pretty entertaining. But we just saw Seth Rollins literally burn it down. It makes what was one of the biggest developments in the feud between Rollins and Wyatt completely and utterly meaningless.

Drew Gulak vs. Kalisto w/ Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado

This match was really meant to get over theBraun Strowmanand Tyson Fury feud. It consisted of some basic wrestling and ended when Strowman appeared and distracted Gulak. Prior to the match, Gulak had been mocking Strowman with a PowerPoint Presentation about all the possible ways he could lose to Fury come their match at Crown Jewel on October 31.

Daniel Bryan Was Interrupted by Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn

Daniel Bryanis in the midst of turning face again, and in this segment he was tempted to stay on the dark side with Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura. He refused, and so his face turn continues.

Mandy Rose w/ Sonya Deville vs. Nikki Cross

Winner:Nikki Cross. This was the longest match of the night so far, and while it was nothing spectacular, it was solid ring work. Deville’s presence at ringside added an extra layer of intrigue to the proceedings, as did Bayley and Sasha Banks on commentary. It’s interesting to see the new Bayley andSasha Banksheel alliance dynamic. Though one has to imagine that Banks will be gunning for Bayley’s title not long after this business with Nikki Cross is done. Cross, by the way, will be facing Bayley for WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship on next week’s show, which will primarily consist of female superstars since most of the male stars will still be in Saudi Arabia.

Brock Lesnar Brutalized Dominick, Rey Mysterio, and Cain Velasquez

This segment was the most entertaining of the night so far, and honestly one of the most exciting things to happen in WWE since Lesnar’s initial beatdown of Dominick on Raw a few weeks ago. The promo beforehand did a good job of building up the tension, and the reveal that Lesnar had apparently been beating up Dominick backstage the entire time was both hilarious and unsettling. Lesnar breaking into the office with a trashcan and attacking everybody was fun to watch, and it included some brutal F-5 spots. Rey Mysterio was F-5’d into the wall, which was somewhat reminiscent of the time Kevin Nash threw him into a trailer like a lawn dart, and Velasquez ate an F-5 on to the injured Dominick. The Lesnar/Velasquez match is actually a pretty big money match for Crown Jewel, and it will be exciting to see what happens.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Ali, Roman Reigns, and Shorty G w/ Jimmy Hart and Hulk Hogan vs. Cesaro, King Corbin, and Shinsuke Nakamura w/ Ric Flair and Sami Zayn

Winners:Ali, Roman Reigns, and Shorty G. This was a really fun match with a lot of energy, and yes it was just a serious of big moves one after another, but the crowd was really into it and that’s what matters. Shorty G may actually help Chad Gable get more over than he was as himself, especially with his new basketball get-up. I wasn’t sold on it at first, but the crowd seemed to be way more into this match than they have been any other “Chad Gable” match of recent memory - barring theKing of the Ring tournamentpush. Roman Reigns, meanwhile, got the biggest reaction out of everyone the whole night, and his sequence with Cesaro near the end of the match was perfectly executed.

Overall, this was a pretty solid episode of SmackDown. It was better than the Fox debut, with fun backstage segments and a really entertaining main event. One could argue that the wrestling on this show in a general sense was lacking, and that’s true, but it was at least never boring. It’s a shame that this episode aired on FS1 instead of Fox, as a lot less people will get to see it, but hopefully SmackDown can continue this momentum with next week’s episode. We know next week will have a tag team title match, a Women’s Championship match, and a Miz TV segment with Bray Wyatt, which has potential to be pretty interesting depending on what happens at Crown Jewel.
