Slowly but surely, Microsoft has been giving out new information on theXbox Series X, but so far one of the biggest questions - what’s the next-gen Xbox’s release date? - remains to be answered.Xbox Series X rumorsthis month have claimed that an official announcement will finally address that very soon, but if the latest leak making its way online is to be believed, fans may already know the console’s release date, thanks to its controller.

The Xbox Series X controller has been the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to unofficial information. Since it was first sighted in the wild late last month, subsequent leaks have provided fresh evidence of all sorts of rumored things about the console, hinting at not just a white version of the Xbox Series X, but alsoMicrosoft’s oft-rumored second next-gen console, the Xbox Series S. And now they may very well have narrowed down the console’s release window from the current Holiday 2020.

A ResetEra moderator who goes by Jawmuncher shared a couple of new leaks last night. One is a videoshowing the Xbox Series X controlleractually being unboxed, courtesy of a newly-formed YouTube channel called DontSueMePlease. The video offers the best look yet at both the controller and its packaging, but other than that it doesn’t reveal much more than what previous leaks already have.

That’s not the case with the other leak Jawmuncher shared, however. Along with the video, they shared an image of what appears to be a menu page for the controller, which they said they got from someone who got a hold of the device. What’s especially noticeable is that it shows a Limited Warranty set to expire on Jul 25, 2025, which implies that theXbox Series Xwill launch on November 5 this year, since Microsoft’s Limited Warranty for products lasts for a full year.

That’s one possibility, but Jawmuncher also noted a less exciting one: that only the controller will be released on that date. Microsoft has stressed that theXbox Series X controller will be compatible with multiple devices, including the Xbox One, so there is some chance that it could come out ahead of the XSX, as a way to convey that it’s not exclusive to that console. Still, it would be kind of an odd move in light of the fact that the XSX wouldn’t be too far behind it.

Aside from this latest rumor, nearly everything so far has pointed to a November launch for the console, citing the perfect timing for the holiday season as well as the Xbox brand’s history of launching in that month. Also, consideringMicrosoft itself has hinted at a November launch for the Xbox Series X, it’s likely that the leaked date could very well be legit and made official soon.

TheXbox Series Xwill launch this holiday season, potentially on November 5.
