Summary
Dan Harmon met with Zack Snyder about aRick and Mortymovie, and Snyder offered to help make the movie in a very Snyder way.
Rick and Mortyhas become popular since it first aired, and Rick’s declaration of “Rick and Mortyforever a hundred years!” seems more realistic by the day. The show has 40 episodes left of the 70 episodes that they agreed to with Adult Swim. Despite letting go of their most prolific voice actor due to horrible allegations against Justin Roiland,Rick and Mortyplans to deliver all 70 episodes. Furthermore, Harmon still wants to make aRick and Mortymovie.
During an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, Harmon revealed that Snyder contacted him to meet at Warner Bros. about making aRick and Mortymovie. Harmon said that Snyder was a super fan of the series and said, “Is there any way I can help get that movie started by using my Snyder-ness?” It is unclear what he meant by using his “Snyder-ness,” but Harmon was flattered that Snyder was such a big fan and wanted to help the movie get made.
Harmon then jokingly said, “So, theRick and Mortymovie is coming as soon as Zack Snyder gets back from his vacation because I want to start with a Snyder cut of that movie and then I want to do the director’s cut of a Snyder cut release, so we can just have a six-hourRick and Mortymovie and three hours of it is in black and white.” Harmon confirmed that there is no outline or script for the film. However, he did have an official meeting with Warner Bros. executives (without Snyder) about “getting the ball rolling” on the movie. Harmon also said he doesn’t want theRick and Mortymovie to have a super dramatic tone shift. He wants it to be “a Rick and Morty adventure, and spend a bunch of extra money on it and make it 90 minutes long.”
Rick and Mortyfans will be excited to hear that Harmon met with Warner Bros. about making a movie for the franchise. Fans may be divided on Snyder’s involvement depending on how they feel about his DCEU films. However, Snyder does have a small history with animation aftera cameo inTeen Titans GOin a hilarious episode. Whether or not Snyder is involved, Harmon’s idea for aRick and Mortymovie seems to be what fans would want.
Rick and Mortyseason 7 airs on Sundays on Adult Swim.
